Gossamer

Well it's no surprise I was listening to Passion Pit last week, and I guess this totally reflects that! XD This actually started out as a sketch. And turned out to be more than a sketch - I know amazing right.

I am actually working on another drawing - a vector- which is taking ages because..well...vectors take ages to draw anyway. Soo I drew this to satisfy my Photoshop craving :D This is mostly Photoshop, though I did go on a roundabout process of doing this...using various processes which will most likely bore you all. XD I did use Paint Tool SAI to draw the web in this though - they have a stabiliser which is SO useful, I don't know why Photoshop doesn't have something like this already. I tried drawing the web in PS and let's just say it looked like shite. XD

The idea in this was the web is supposed to catch stars...and other stuff...well I'm actually hoping I don't have to explain this drawing because it is pretty simple really. XD Hope you like it, look out for a super cool vector next week ;D

Alone Together

So this is a drawing I did based on a sketch I did a few years ago (there's a link in my gallery somewhere in the traditional art). I always wanted to make it into a digital drawing and finally just got around to it. So this drawing. So much editing. So many colours. SO many glows. Have I said how much I like glows? If there is a reason why I have stopped doing vector art in the past few weeks it is because glows just don't work as well with vectors as they do with massively saturated photoshopped drawings. It's just....SO GOOD.

Anyhow this was a pretty good piece for experimenting with textures in Photoshop. I never realised how something so simple as changing the brush scatter could affect the overall look....hah. I wanted to keep this piece illustrative/cartoonish so some elements in this are very precise. Others..are all over the place. But tbh I kinda like it that way. It's like a storybook effect, you know? Getting perspective right in this was a bitch. There is still so much I could edit out of this but I have to stop myself at some point. Actually I might just touch up the colours tomorrow when I get time...

I have also realised I really REALLY like shading and painting stuff in Photoshop. It's so relaxing and you can actually see stuff happening on the screen really quickly (yes in case you haven't realised I am REALLY impatient when it comes to certain things). I have not actually used Photoshop to colour or texturise my drawings since a few months ago so it is quite a learning curve for me. But wow it really makes a difference right? I mean I still loovee vectors but playing with textures in Photoshop is so much fun.

But now after I've done this I have a mad craving to do some pure vector artworks. I have a few ideas in mind. Well tonnes actually. I'm like an ideas factory. The only problem is capacity and time (but you guessed that already). Look out for it. SOON!

I Love Bubbles

YES that's right there is a new drawing. Well new-ish. If you were a fan on facebook you might have seen this last week (lucky you?). I was experimenting with textures in this one and kinda went a bit overboard with the photoshop brushes in this. I just love grass. And clouds. Maybe too much. The clouds in this are so overdone XD I'll fix them...one day....maybe.

I've decided I am possibly the worst blogger ever. Even just thinking about writing a new blog exhausts me. I am just always so busy...I can never find the time to do all these little things let alone draw something epically amazing. I think in the big website overhaul (which is now looking to be somewhere late this year) I will stop calling this place a "blog" and instead call it a "news" page. Good idea? No? Sigh.

Anyway I know this drawing could do with a lot of improvements. I have already over-edited it to death. Possibly over-edited it too much...but at least I had fun drawing it and that's what counts right?

Hark! An update has arrived

Hi all! First off I have to apologise for being so ridiculously absent in updating this blog. I know I said I would post a new drawing every week but that hasn’t happened recently because of recent travel, block and games, which I will explain further below.

Let’s start with the new site layout. In case you were wondering, I AM working on a new layout for this website still. In fact I am planning to completely overhaul the links and structure of this place because right now it is giving me a headache going through everything. And I’m sure for you as a visitor, the site navigation etc. is not exactly the best laid out, as well as the images … and well everything.

You know when you have really awesome visions in your head of what you’d like your website to look like? Well I have a bad habit of starting things before fully planning them out â€" so as I do, I created SEVEN different drawings meant for the new layout. It could probably be used for a mini comic flip book because that’s really what has come to be â€" I actually wanted to create a similar effect used here. Alas, I have had a multitude of dumb stuff happen, including me saving over hours of work in Photoshop in some of the files (meaning I lost all the layers, effects etc. I had originally) which I admit was my fault…~_~” Then when I put the layout together somewhat in Dreamweaver, it was even more painful to position each div and keep it fluid in browsers from 1024x768 up to 1990x~. Even now at 104x768 things look a bit cramped and I really don’t want to resize the drawings more. It sucks though because I know a majority of people still use the 1024x768 resoluti on L And then I decided I hardly even liked the new layout anymore, because of the limited amount of space in each ‘slide’.

To cut a long story short I am at a crossroads about what I should do â€" give up on this layout and make a business card sized flipbook (LOL) or start a new layout and actually plan where each content will go.

Le sigh. I get way too much ahead of myself sometimes

In other news, I went to Malaysia in the last week of June! It was really just to catch up with relatives and my cousin’s wedding, haha. But it was great to escape Perth weather for a bit and do a bit of shopping :D I’ll upload some photos of my trip at a later date when I get my camera!

I’ve also been playing a lot of games which is also another very very weak excuse as to why I haven’t updated this blog or my drawings recently. Yes, it’s Diablo 3. But seriously, when you start playing this game you just can’t stop until you have finished Inferno at least. MY GOD I need better armour. More gold/armour farming for me! Hehehehe. Yeah. Sorry :’( I’ve also recently gotten into the Sims 3 again â€" I stopped playing but started again since buying all the expansion packs. There is so much to explore and do now, it’s CRAZAY. But good.

Cam even updated my computer so the OS and programs are now running on an SSD! Including the Sims 3. My god did it need the SSD because without it I’m pretty sure my old hard drive would now splutter and lag horribly with all the new expansions loaded.

Anyhow I will stop the rant here and wish you all a very pleasant weekend â€" I WILL POST SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE SOON. Thanks for stayin with me my lovelies

Omg... I spent so long readjusting this image and I still really want to fix it up. But I also need to leave it alone because I think I've reedited it too many times, and there is this other idea I need to get working on for a NEW LAYOUT for this site!! I know I've said that since the start of this year but I seriously want to get something started. I think this next layout may take a while though - I have a pretty awesome idea for the layout, I just need to draw the graphics!

Anyway, for this drawing I spent ages trying to figure out how to do this. Because it's a combination of cloudy clouds and straight edge vectors, it was really hard to seamlessly weave in both elements. The depth in this is a bit off I know, but hey it just adds to the cartoony, illustrative feel of it like the rest of the stuff I do ;D

The idea behind this is that instead of hoisting flags up everywhere on conquered land, there are growing flagpoles and unfurled hearts and other metaphorical cutesy stuffs :D:D You have no idea how much I recoloured the sky either. And you'd think that would be the easiest thing to do... =_=

Anyhow, back to the massive number of projects I have to start... It just never ends!
